New Screen Print by Bryan Schnelle
Introducing the newest screen print by Los Angeles artist Bryan Schnelle, and Phone Booth Gallery's first print release for 2010. This psychedelic two color print titled "Control" features his signature ski mask graphic, complete with black and white sunburst on a real nice specialty metallic paper.

Remember those close-up shots from our studio visit with Bryan Schnelle a while back? Well here is the full image, titled "War for Territory" as well as another piece titled "Holy Mountain 1" this gives us a peek into whats to come for this ever-evolving artist in 2010.

Bryan Schnelle and Some Dismembered Body Parts
I got a chance to swing by Bryan Schnelle's studio this evening and take a look at some new large scale work he has been creating. This guy is coming up with some crazy ideas, most of which I wont even try to describe. Here is a few sneak peak snapshots of whats in the works.

Bryan Schnelle - Los Angeles Art Association's 2009 Open Show
Bryan Schnelle is part of the Los Angeles Art Association's 2009 Open Show, juried by Apsara DiQuinzio, Assistant Curator, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.
Opening reception was 6-9 December 12, 2009 and runs through January 8, 2010 at LAAA's Gallery 825. More info here: http://www.laaa.org/

Schnelle vs. Knife - Mini Interview
Recently, Mike Knife hit Bryan Schnelle with a few intimate questions, and Schnelle gave some interesting answers. Below is the result:
Knife: I love the ski mask theme in your work, have you ever wanted to rob a bank?
Schnelle: Yeah, actually. The Federal Reserve. Maybe take back some of what’s been stolen.
Knife: Did you ever play cops and robbers as a kid?
Schnelle: I don’t remember. I was a weird kid. I do remember having a Knight Rider big wheel that I used to do giant skid-out 180’s across all of our neighbor’s driveways.
Knife: I heard that you are into black metal! What bands are you currently listening to? I'm really into Dimmu Borgir and Abigail Williams.
Schnelle: Black Metal is great fuel for painting. Lately I’ve been listening to Immortal’s Sons of Northern Darkness, Dissection’s Storm of the Light’s Bane, and Darkthrone’s A Blaze in the Northern Sky.
Knife: Going along with the whole black metal thing, do you think at some point your figures could be decked out in corpse paint?
Schnelle: In due time…
Knife: Would you be down to do a collab piece with me? I could draw up some eyes, mouths noses, and you could throw down with the ski mask steez. I bet we could get rich by selling it for a million bucks!
Schnelle: A million bucks!!! Yeah, that could be fun man, we should do that. Do you ever work big?
Knife: What can we expect next from Bryan Schnelle?
Schnelle: I have a show opening this Saturday, October 17th, at Double Punch Gallery in SF, a group show with Skinner, Jesse Balmer, and Steve Seeley. After that I plan on doing some large-scale paintings, stuff I’ve been thinking about for a while and I think is ready to come out.
Knife: Thanks for the interview, Bryan.
Schnelle: Thank you, it’s been fun.

The opening reception on Saturday night really went off! Bryan Schnelle's installation was really well received, and the show as a whole was really amazing... Many thanks to all who came out and made the evening special.

Gearing up for Bryan Schnelle Show on Saturday
We are all pretty excited here at Phone Booth Gallery about this Saturday's event. With the combination of Bryan Schnelle's artwork, Potar spinning some records, and PBR, it's bound to be a great time. Limited edition screen prints will also be available, as well as some 1" buttons for your leather jacket. Swing by if you are in the area!

Bryan Schnelle: Untitled
This Saturday night is Phone Booth Gallery's long awaited exhibition of new work by Los Angeles based artist Bryan Schnelle. There will be art, a DJ set by Long Beach native Potar, beer provided by Pabst Blue Ribbon, and good times for all. Here is the info:

Bryan Schnelle @ Gallery Three - Opening Reception
We were lucky enough to make it up to SF to catch Bryan Schnelle's opening reception "Suicide Machine." Schnelle constructed an amazing collection of work, complete with installation. Gallery Three sits at the top of a mysterious set of stairs in the back of the Shooting Gallery in San Francisco, a black floored, white walled setting that couldn't have been better the showcase Schnelle's favorite colors.

Off the Hook II - Group Exhibit!
This show was probably our best and most diverse group exhibition to date. All the artists really pulled through to show their best work.
